Treatments are highly customisable, depending on your aesthetic goals and the severity of skin ageing. However, the best way to determine whether Fotona TwinLight will be a suitable treatment for you is to have a consultation at our clinic.

Fotona TwinLight treatments use a three-step process to revitalise the skin.

Step 1: Conditioning 
First, an Nd:YAG laser beam is passed along the skin’s surface twice to condition the skin for treatment. The first pass of the laser aims to stimulate the skin, whilst the second pass penetrates the tissue to heat and condition for skin for an effective fractional laser treatment.

Step 2: Fractional Therapy
Next, an Er:YAG laser is used to destroy aged and damaged skin. This works to activate the skin’s natural repair process, replacing the ablated skin with tighter, clearer, healthier tissue.

Step 3: Laser Peeling
To complete the TwinLight treatment, another Er:YAG beam will pass across the surface of the skin to remove any superficial imperfections. This is done by peeling away the upper layer of the skin, revealing a fresh layer underneath for a smoother, brighter complexion. 

Prior to your treatment, we recommend having a consultation at Medical Aesthetics to discuss your aesthetic concerns and procedure expectations, after which we can create a treatment plan.

Fotona TwinLight treatments take around one hour to complete. As the laser passes the treatment area, you may experience a warm or pinching sensation; however, this is not intense and should dissipate quickly. For your comfort, we may apply a topical anaesthetic to your skin before treatment. After your Fotona TwinLight treatment, you are immediately free to resume your regular activities.

While results will vary from patient to patient, many notice an immediate change in the texture and appearance of their skin. However, collagen production does take time, meaning that it can take up to two to three months to see the full effects of your treatment. Eventually, the ageing process will begin once more, at which time you may require annual follow-up treatments to maintain results.

The number of treatments required will depend on factors such as the severity of your skin concerns and the intensity of your treatments. For best results, we may recommend up to three treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart. To maintain this, we often suggest annual follow-up treatments.

Following your Fotona TwinLight treatment, you can resume your daily activities immediately, however, some downtime may be required, depending on the intensity of your treatment. A gentle treatment may have you looking back to normal within two days, while a more intense treatment could require anywhere between four and seven days of downtime.

During your recovery period, you may experience some swelling, redness, scabbing and peeling in the treated area: this is normal and will resolve on its own. Following your Fotona TwinLight treatment, diligent sun care is a must, so we suggest applying an SPF 50+ to the treated area daily.
