Why choose LaseMD

Collagen and elastin are two of the most important building blocks of the skin. As we age, collagen and elastin levels naturally and gradually decline. By restoring these elements, we can create a more youthful appearance.

LaseMD is a fractional non-ablative laser that benefits the skin by creating micro-channels. It’s via these micro-channels that the production of collagen and elastin is enhanced. This improves the quality of the skin at a deep, cellular level.

This popular skin resurfacing system can be used to treat a multitude of skin concerns while tightening the skin at the same time. Treatments are fully customisable and treatments last anywhere from 20 – 30 minutes, making them very convenient.

Even though some redness will occur after your session, it can be covered with makeup 24 hours after your session. This means patients can return to their usual routine almost immediately.

Ideal Candidates for LaseMD Treatments

LaseMD is safe for all skin types and colours. In fact, it can even be used to treat tanned skin Patients who want to reduce the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles can benefit from this treatment. It can also be used to improve skin tone and texture. Patients should, however, have realistic expectations about what can be achieved.

Before your treatment commences, the skin is prepped, a topical numbing cream is applied and before photos are taken.

During your LaseMD session, there are three different levels that can be used to achieve the desired outcome.

Level I
Level I is the most gentle and only produces several hours of redness. This level is mainly used to treat acne scarring and pigmentation, including melasma. The tone and texture of the skin can also be improved. Level I is basically a light exfoliation that will produce a natural glow.

Level II
Level II is used to reduce the effects of mild to moderate sun damage as well as fine lines.

Level III
Level III is the most intense and is ideal for sagging skin, moderate fine lines, significant scarring and severe sun damage. The skin will flake for 5 – 7 days after a level III treatment. The face, neck and hands can all be treated in one session.

As the applicator passes over the treated area, you can expect a warm, tingling sensation. A numbing cream doesn’t need to be applied for all treatment levels – it all depends on your preferences.
Several treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired outcome. Most patients need about 3 treatments for the best results. It all depends on the condition of the skin and what needs to be treated. We will review your goals, skin types and concerns during your consultation before devising a customised treatment plan.

It is possible to combine LaseMD with other treatments that will help you reach your goals.

The LaseMD system can be used to treat almost any area of the body where lines, wrinkles and sun damage is present. The face, neck, decolletage, arms and hands are some of the most common. Any patient that is no longer benefiting from topical products as much as they once did can benefit from LaseMD sessions.

We highly recommend treating both the face, neck and chest or both the hands and arms together. Only treating the face or hands can result in a mismatch. Your face could end up looking more youthful but your neck will still show clear signs of ageing – not ideal.

Most patients are able to see a noticeable difference in skin tone and texture after just one LaseMD treatment. After each treatment, unwanted pigmentation, uneven skin texture and any acne scarring will all be reduced. Results will vary between patients based on the severity of the skin concerns though.

LaseMD results are long-lasting but they aren’t permanent. Once your treatment plan is complete, the natural ageing process and external factors will continue impacting your skin. To ensure your results last as long as possible, we will provide you with at-home skincare recommendations. This will include product recommendations based on your specific concerns.

Most patients choose to schedule a touch-up session once a year following their initial treatment plan to maintain results.
