Story
A 46-year-old professional presented to Medical Aesthetics 360° with concerns about persistent under-eye bags that had gradually become more noticeable over the past five years.
She described feeling frustrated that her appearance did not reflect how she felt. “I sleep well, I exercise, I look after my skin — but my eyes always make me look exhausted,” she explained. In photographs and video calls, the lower eyelid puffiness appeared heavier, casting subtle shadows that exaggerated the tired look.
During consultation with Dr Chun-Yen Huang, a comprehensive lower eyelid assessment was performed. This included evaluation of fat pad prominence, skin elasticity, eyelid support and the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek.
Examination confirmed mild to moderate protrusion of the lower eyelid fat pads, combined with early skin laxity — common structural ageing changes that contribute to under-eye bags.
After discussing suitable options, a personalised eye rejuvenation plan was developed. The focus was not aggressive correction, but conservative eyebag reduction to soften puffiness and improve contour while maintaining natural eyelid support.
At her follow-up review, the lower eyelid area appeared smoother and more defined. The heavy shadow beneath the eyes had softened, and the eyelid–cheek transition looked more seamless. Her natural expression remained unchanged — she simply appeared brighter and more refreshed.
“I don’t look different,” she said at review. “I just look like myself again — but well-rested.”
Clinical Perspective
Eye rejuvenation and eyebag reduction require precise anatomical assessment. Under-eye bags are often structural, not simply skin-deep concerns. Fat pad prominence and reduced collagen support contribute to contour changes over time.
Dr Chun-Yen Huang has over 10 years of cosmetic experience in aesthetic medicine and lower eyelid assessment. His approach prioritises detailed structural evaluation, conservative correction and long-term balance.
The aim is not perfection, but refinement — reducing under-eye fullness to restore a refreshed, harmonious appearance.
