Story

A young female patient attended the clinic with concerns about a flatter nose bridge and a softer nose contour than she preferred.

Her goal was not to create a dramatic or artificial-looking change. She wanted a nose profile that looked slightly more elevated, better defined and more balanced, while still looking natural on her face.

During the consultation, we discussed her facial proportions, her existing nose shape and what could realistically be achieved with nose threads. The treatment plan focused on subtle bridge elevation and contour refinement, rather than changing her overall appearance.

Before proceeding, the benefits, limitations and risks were discussed carefully. This included common considerations such as swelling, bruising, tenderness, asymmetry, irregularity, thread palpability or visibility, and the possibility that further review or adjustment may be required. We also discussed the small but real risk of infection, which is uncommon but important to understand before any procedure involving thread placement.

After understanding the procedure, expected recovery and possible risks, she decided to proceed.

Treatment Description

The treatment began with two small local anaesthetic injections to numb the area.

Once the anaesthetic had taken effect, the procedure was very comfortable for her. She reported no pain during the treatment after numbing, and the process was completed smoothly.

The aim was to support the nose bridge and improve the visual contour in a way that looked soft, elegant and proportionate to her natural facial features.

Visible Results

The visible improvement was focused on the nose bridge and overall contour.

Her nose appeared:

More elevated through the bridge
Better defined from the front and side profile
More structured without looking sharp or artificial
Still natural and harmonious with her face

This case demonstrates how a subtle structural change can improve the overall impression of facial balance. The result was not intended to look obvious or overdone, but rather to create a cleaner, more refined nose contour that still felt like her.

Recovery was short in this case, with minimal downtime. Mild swelling or tenderness can occur after treatment, but many patients are able to return to normal daily activities soon after, depending on their individual recovery.

Doctor’s Notes

This case highlights the importance of careful assessment and conservative planning.

For a younger patient with a flatter bridge, the goal is often not to make the nose look “done”, but to create a little more structure and definition while respecting the patient’s natural features.

Nose thread treatment may be suitable for selected patients who want subtle contour improvement without surgery. However, it is not suitable for everyone, and results vary depending on anatomy, skin thickness, existing nose shape and healing response.

A medical consultation is required to assess suitability, discuss risks and decide whether this treatment is appropriate.

Individual results and recovery vary. All procedures carry risks, including infection, swelling, bruising, tenderness, asymmetry and the possible need for further review.
