At Medical Aesthetics 360, XERF treatment is considered when mild to moderate skin laxity is contributing to the concern and a subtle, non-surgical change is the goal. It does not replace a surgical facelift, restore lost facial volume or remove significant under-chin fat. The more useful question is whether RF skin tightening addresses what is actually causing the change you see.

These findings are encouraging, but they are preliminary rather than proof that every patient will improve or that XERF is superior to another tightening device.

Screening matters because monopolar RF sends current through tissue to a return pad. The practitioner should know about implants, skin conditions and recent procedures before settings or treatment areas are chosen.
Expected short-term effects can include warmth, redness, swelling and tenderness. Burns, blistering, altered sensation, pigment change or an unwanted contour effect are less common but possible. Risk varies with anatomy, skin response, settings and technique.
