Resurfacing
aftercare

What to do tonight, what can wait and when to call us—clear aftercare for Morpheus8, LaseMD and medical microneedling.

The simple recovery rule
01 CalmKeep it simple. Do not rub.
02 ProtectClean hands, simple skincare.
03 WaitLet the surface heal naturally.

Keep this guide nearby, and follow your clinician’s personalised instructions first.

For all three treatments

Four things your skin
needs from you.

01

Clean, not complicated

Use clean hands and only the gentle products recommended by your clinician.

02

Calm, do not irritate

Keep the area comfortable and avoid rubbing, pressure, heat and unnecessary touching.

03

Protect the barrier

No picking, peeling, scrubbing, facial tools or strong skincare while healing.

04

Shade is treatment care

Minimise sun and begin broad-spectrum SPF 50+ once the surface tolerates it.

Your plan may be different. Device settings, treatment depth, body area, skin type, prescription products and combined treatments all change recovery. Follow the written instructions from the clinician who treated you.

Intact skin and open skin need different care

If the skin is intact: you may use a simple fragrance-free Aveeno moisturiser if it suits your skin and does not sting. If there is a small, clean superficial open area: contact MA360 for advice; if we confirm it is suitable, apply a thin layer of plain Vaseline (100% petroleum jelly) from a clean tube and cover it with a sterile non-stick dressing. Open, blistered, weeping, increasingly painful or spreading red skin is not routine recovery—please contact us promptly.

The first week

Recovery is a trend,
not a deadline.

Right away 0–6 hours

Calm and protect

Leave the clinic’s product in place for the advised time. Keep hands away and avoid rubbing, pressure and heat.

First day 6–24 hours

Keep it very simple

Expect warmth, redness, tightness or mild swelling. No actives, makeup, exercise, sauna, steam, swimming or facial devices.

Early healing 1–3 days

Do not pick

Gentle cleansing and moisturising may resume as instructed. Fine crusts, dryness or a rough texture should shed on their own.

Surface settles 4–7 days

Return gradually

Reintroduce your usual routine only when the skin is intact, calm and no longer stings. Continue diligent sun protection.

Some skin settles faster and some takes longer—especially after a stronger Morpheus8 or LaseMD treatment. The important question is whether it is gradually improving. If it is moving in the wrong direction, contact MA360.

01

RF microneedling

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 combines needles with radiofrequency energy, so redness, warmth, swelling and a fine grid or tiny crusts can be more noticeable than with standard microneedling.

Usually normal

Pinkness, warmth, mild swelling, tenderness, pinpoint marks and a dry or sandpaper-like texture. Tiny crusts can appear after 1–3 days and should lift naturally.

Today & tonight

  • Keep the area clean and avoid unnecessary touching.
  • Keep the area calm: avoid rubbing, pressure, heat and unnecessary touching.
  • Apply only the post-treatment product your MA360 clinician recommended. Do not put Aveeno or Vaseline over the freshly treated area tonight unless we told you to.
  • Sleep slightly elevated tonight if facial swelling is noticeable.

Next few days

  • Do not pick, scratch, scrub or exfoliate tiny crusts.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam, hot showers and swimming for 48 hours, or longer while warm or irritated.
  • Once the surface is intact, restart a gentle cleanser and a fragrance-free moisturiser—Aveeno may be used if it suits your skin—at the time we specified, commonly 24–72 hours. Delay makeup and sunscreen until the skin tolerates them.
  • Avoid retinoids, acids, vitamin C, scrubs and facial devices until healed and comfortable.

Sun protectionProtect the treated area from strong sun for at least one month. Use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ once your clinician confirms sunscreen can be applied.

If skin opens, blisters or weeps

Do not scrub, peel or apply active skincare. Contact MA360 promptly because this may represent a burn or another complication. Use plain Vaseline and a sterile non-stick dressing only if your MA360 clinician directs you after reviewing the area.

02

1927 nm fractional thulium laser

LaseMD

LaseMD creates fractional microthermal zones. Recovery varies with the treatment setting: a light session may cause brief pinkness, while a stronger session can feel warm, dry and rough for several days.

Usually normal

Mild redness, warmth, swelling or sensitivity, followed by dryness, fine roughness or a bronzed look. This often improves over several days; stronger treatments may take longer.

Today & tonight

  • Keep the skin calm and comfortable; avoid rubbing, pressure and heat.
  • Use only the cleanser, moisturiser or recovery ointment approved by your MA360 clinician.
  • Keep the skin away from direct sun, heat, vigorous exercise and chlorinated water.
  • Do not apply makeup while the skin is hot, raw, weeping or uncomfortable.

Next few days

  • Cleanse with lukewarm water and a gentle, non-fragranced cleanser.
  • On intact skin, moisturise regularly with a simple fragrance-free product; Aveeno may be used if it suits your skin and does not sting.
  • Let dry or rough skin shed naturally—no peeling, facial brushes, scrubs or exfoliating cloths.
  • Restart actives and makeup gradually only after the surface is intact and comfortable.

Sun protectionDaily broad-spectrum SPF 50+, shade and a hat are especially important after a pigment-focused laser treatment. Do not deliberately tan.

If skin opens, blisters or weeps

This is not routine “dryness.” Contact MA360 promptly. Do not apply acids, retinoids, vitamin C or fragranced products. If we confirm simple wound care is appropriate, use a thin layer of plain Vaseline from a clean tube and a sterile non-stick dressing until reviewed or healed.

03

Medical skin needling

Microneedling

Standard microneedling creates controlled microchannels without radiofrequency or laser energy. The skin commonly feels sunburnt for a short period before settling.

Usually normal

Redness or temporary darkening, mild burning, tightness, tenderness and light swelling. These reactions usually improve over a few days and may take up to a week.

Today & tonight

  • Keep hands, your phone, pillowcase and anything touching the area clean.
  • Apply only the aftercare cream or product recommended by your clinician.
  • Wait at least 24 hours before makeup, and longer if the surface is not fully intact.
  • Avoid hard exercise, heat, swimming and unnecessary touching while the skin feels warm or sensitive.

Next few days

  • Wash gently with clean hands, lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
  • On intact skin, use a simple fragrance-free moisturiser; Aveeno may be used if it suits your skin and does not sting. Do not scrub flaking skin.
  • Hold retinoids, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, strong vitamin C and at-home devices until healed.
  • Use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ and minimise direct sun exposure.

Sun protectionIf your session included PRP or another topical treatment, follow the personalised timing provided by your clinician rather than a generic online routine.

If there is a small open area

Contact MA360. If we confirm home wound care is suitable, wash your hands, gently cleanse the area with lukewarm water and mild fragrance-free cleanser, pat dry, apply a thin layer of plain Vaseline from a clean tube and cover with a sterile non-stick dressing. Change it daily. Seek prompt review for worsening pain, warmth, swelling, pus, spreading redness or fever.

Most reactions are temporary

Watch the direction of change.

You do not need to diagnose a complication at home. Please contact MA360 promptly if a symptom is severe, spreading, becoming worse or simply does not feel right.

Usually settles

  • Mild redness or warmth
  • Light, even swelling
  • Tenderness or tightness
  • Fine dryness or roughness
  • Pinpoint marks or tiny crusts

The questions patients usually ask

Simple answers for
the next few days.

When can I wash my face?+

Follow the timing your clinician gave you. Once cleansing is allowed, use clean hands, lukewarm water and a gentle fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry—do not rub. Morpheus8 settings and stronger LaseMD treatments may require a more cautious timeline.

When can I wear makeup?+

After standard microneedling, wait at least 24 hours. After Morpheus8, manufacturer guidance allows a 24–72 hour window depending on recovery. For LaseMD, wait until the time your clinician specified and until the surface is fully intact, no longer warm and comfortable. Use clean applicators.

Can I exercise tomorrow?+

Delay hard exercise, hot yoga and anything that makes the treated area hot or flushed while it remains warm, swollen or sensitive. A gentle walk is different from a high-intensity workout; let comfort and your clinician’s advice guide you.

When should I restart retinol, acids or vitamin C?+

Wait until the skin is intact, calm and no longer stings with bland skincare. Restart one product at a time rather than everything on the same night. Prescription skincare should be restarted according to the prescriber’s instructions.

What sunscreen should I use?+

Once your skin can comfortably tolerate sunscreen, use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 or SPF 50+ product. Add shade, a broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses—sunscreen is only one part of protection. Ask MA360 if every sunscreen stings.

Can I use Aveeno or Vaseline?+

Yes, but they have different roles. On intact skin, you may use a simple fragrance-free Aveeno moisturiser if it suits your skin and does not sting. Vaseline is plain petroleum jelly: it may be used as a thin protective layer on a small, clean superficial open area when MA360 confirms this is appropriate. Do not use a fragranced lotion on open skin, and do not self-treat blistering, weeping, burns, worsening pain or spreading redness—contact us promptly.

Evidence-informed, individualised care

Why these instructions are careful.

This guide combines regulatory and manufacturer information with dermatology wound-care guidance and peer-reviewed research. Evidence supports moist, covered healing with plain petroleum jelly for suitable minor clean wounds, but open or weeping skin after an energy-based procedure requires clinical review. Protocols differ by device and setting, so your MA360 clinician’s plan remains the primary instruction.
