Why consultation comes first

Less guesswork. A plan built around you.

Similar concerns can have different causes. Your skin, medical history, goals, preferred downtime and treatment area all shape what may be appropriate.

Understand your concern

We look beyond the surface so you are not left trying to self-diagnose.

Compare suitable options

We explain relevant pathways, expected downtime, limitations and considerations.

Receive a clear plan

You receive personalised next steps and an exact quote where appropriate.

Why we need to see the concern

The same problem can lead to very different plans

A treatment name or price cannot tell you how your skin or lesion is likely to respond. These are the questions a clinical assessment is designed to answer.

Moles & skin tags

Can it be removed—and how is it likely to heal?

The type of lesion, its depth, size, location and your healing history all affect suitability and the likelihood of a visible mark. We need to assess the lesion before discussing the likely healing process or scarring risk. Scarless healing cannot be guaranteed.

Pigmentation

Is it likely to fade—or could it rebound?

Freckles, melasma, sun spots and post-inflammatory pigmentation do not behave the same way. Assessment helps us discuss the chance of improvement, the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or rebound, and whether maintenance may be needed. Complete clearance cannot be promised.

Lines & wrinkles

Is line-softening treatment suitable—and will it be enough?

Lines caused mainly by facial movement can respond differently from deeper lines present at rest. Assessment helps us discuss suitability, the likely degree of softening and whether skin quality, volume or laxity also needs to be considered.

Assessment improves the quality of the prediction; it does not make an outcome certain. Individual response, healing and results vary.

Skin tightening · Your anatomy comes first

Firmer skin, less sagging or a change in volume?

A softer jawline can reflect loose skin, descended tissue, localised fullness or volume loss. A consultation helps identify what is contributing before you choose Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX, XERF, Sofwave or HIFU.

Your skin type and quality

We assess skin tone, thickness, elasticity, crepiness, sun damage and sensitivity, together with your medical and treatment history. These help guide suitability, settings and the likely response.

Your pattern of sagging

Surface laxity and deeper tissue descent are different concerns. We assess the face, jawline and neck to discuss whether dermal tightening, deeper support or a surgical opinion is more appropriate.

Your facial volume

A fuller area may need assessment for localised fat reduction, tightening or both. A lean or hollow face may need a plan that prioritises preserving volume. Tightening cannot replace lost facial volume.

Different technologies, different treatment targets

The dermis is the collagen-rich layer within the skin. The SMAS is a deeper fibromuscular support layer. Treating more deeply is not automatically better: tissue thickness, anatomy and the intended goal determine the appropriate target.

Ultrasound with imaging

Ultherapy PRIME

Target: Microfocused ultrasound at selected depths, with real-time imaging to guide treatment of collagen-rich tissue, including dermal and SMAS/fibrous layers where appropriate.

Consultation focus: Whether deeper support and lifting are suitable, which depths fit your anatomy and which areas should be avoided. It should not be selected simply to reduce facial fat.

Monopolar radiofrequency

Thermage FLX

Target: Radiofrequency heating of collagen-rich tissue beneath the skin surface to support gradual firming and smoothing.

Consultation focus: Skin laxity, crepiness and firmness, with the treatment area and facial volume considered. Contour improvement does not mean intentional fat removal.

Dual-frequency radiofrequency

XERF

Target: Monopolar radiofrequency using 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, with adjustable depth settings to tailor tissue heating.

Consultation focus: Skin firmness, tissue thickness and appropriate treatment depth. Deeper RF heating is not the same as a precisely focused SMAS treatment or a dedicated fat-reduction procedure.

Dermal ultrasound

Sofwave

Target: Parallel ultrasound beams centred around 1.5 mm within the mid-dermis, with surface cooling.

Consultation focus: Dermal tightening and skin quality when preserving underlying facial volume is a priority. It is designed to spare underlying fat; it is not a fat-reduction or SMAS-targeting treatment.

Focused-ultrasound category

HIFU

Target: Selected tissue depths determined by the exact device and cartridge. Some systems offer dermal or deeper fibrous-layer treatment; imaging and protocols vary.

Consultation focus: Confirm the device, target layer and whether the protocol is intended for tightening or selected fat reduction. Those goals need different planning; HIFU devices are not interchangeable.

Preserve volume where you need it. Some faces may benefit from assessment for both localised fat reduction and tightening; others need tightening with careful protection of existing volume. Unwanted fat loss can worsen hollowing. No energy-based treatment can promise zero risk, and suitability depends on the device, settings, treatment area and your anatomy.

Likely response & expectations

What change is realistic for you?

Discuss the likely degree of improvement, what may remain unchanged, when to review progress and whether maintenance may be needed. Changes generally develop over weeks to months; improvement may be subtle or limited. Significant sagging may need a surgical opinion. Comfort, recovery and device-specific risks, including burns, altered sensation or unwanted contour changes, are part of the discussion.

Alternatives & value

A plan that makes sense for your budget

Compare likely benefit with the total course cost, number of sessions, recovery and maintenance. A focused area or staged plan may be appropriate; combining devices is not automatically necessary. Alternatives may include skin care or resurfacing for skin quality, a separate volume or fat assessment, surgical referral, or no treatment. We explain lower-cost suitable options and when further treatment is unlikely to offer good value.

Technology information sources

Device descriptions draw on Ultherapy instructions for use, Thermage manufacturer information, XERF manufacturer information and the Sofwave technology brochure. These explain mechanisms; they do not establish that one device is best for every patient or predict your individual result.

Personalised pricing

Why we quote after consultation

A useful quote depends on the treatment that is actually suitable for you, the area being treated, treatment intensity, the likely number of sessions and whether a staged or combination approach is recommended. Quoting after assessment lets you compare likely benefit, alternatives and the total cost of a suitable plan within your budget.

Common questions

Before you book

Which skin-tightening treatment is best for my face?

There is no single best device for every face. Skin quality, tissue descent, facial fullness or hollowing, medical history and your expectations help determine whether Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX, XERF, Sofwave, HIFU or another pathway is appropriate. Your consultation compares suitable options and costs before you decide.

Do I need tightening, fat reduction or help with volume loss?

These are different goals and can coexist in different areas of the same face. Assessment helps distinguish loose skin, deeper sagging, localised fat and lost volume. A plan may prioritise tightening, consider targeted fat reduction, or preserve existing volume and discuss other options. Reducing fat is not automatically helpful for sagging.

Can I choose a more affordable treatment plan?

Tell us your budget at consultation. We can discuss suitable alternatives, prioritising one concern or treating in stages where appropriate. Compare the total course and maintenance costs with the likely benefit. If a lower-cost option is unlikely to meet your goal, we explain its limits rather than recommending extra sessions without a clear reason.

Do I need to know which treatment I want?

No. Book for the concern you would like assessed. Your consultation is where suitable options can be discussed and compared.

Will I receive a treatment price?

Where appropriate, you will receive personalised pricing after your concern and suitability have been assessed and a treatment plan has been discussed.

Why can two people with the same concern need different plans?

Skin type, medical history, the cause and severity of a concern, treatment area, goals and downtime preferences can all affect which pathway may be suitable.

What about surgical or injectable treatments?

Surgical procedures and prescription-only injectable treatments require a doctor consultation before suitability, a personalised plan or pricing can be confirmed. This page does not replace medical assessment.
